Odd-Shaped Letters

Letters that meet one or more of the non-machinable characteristics below are subject to the non-machinable surcharge. If your package does meet one of the following criteria, please select the check-box next to odd-shaped in the previous screen to assure proper delivery of your item. For items over 3.5 ounces, see Large Envelope or Package.

Non-Rectangular Items

NetStamps | Serial Number

The serial number is pre-printed on each label on a sheet or roll of NetStamps. Each sheet or roll has its own unique number. For sheets, you can find the serial number in the top right corner of the sheet. For rolls, you can find the serial number on each NetStamps label.

On some NetStamps label sheets and rolls, the serial number is followed by a 2 or 3-digit label number. The numbers to enter into the Serial Number field when printing NetStamps are only the numbers that come BEFORE this label number. It is important that the number entered in the Serial Number field matches the number that is pre-printed on the sheet NetStamps labels. If you print on a label where the numbers do not match, the NetStamps label will not be valid to use as postage.

NetStamps | Overriding Available Quantity

Stamps.com tracks the number of available, unused stamps on a NetStamps sheet. If you need to print more than what we are showing as available, please load a new sheet into the printer and enter a new serial number. If you wish to simply override the number available on the current sheet, you can do that on the last step of the Postage Wizard, after you click Print Now.

Envelope Length

For envelopes, length refers to the side that is parallel to the address.

Email Recipient

You can request that the recipients of packages receive an email including tracking information. The email lists the delivery address and the postage options used for the package, such as mail class and special services. It also includes a link with the confirmation number, so that the recipient can verify delivery status. To email recipient, simply check the Email Recipient checkbox and enter a valid email address.

First Class Mail

Use for postcards, letters, large envelopes (flats) and small packages. First Class is USPS’s premium service for items equal to or below 13 oz. with delivery times often as fast as Priority Mail. Prices are based on the shape and weight of the item.

Priority Mail

Use for fast service on documents and packages exceeding 13 oz. and below 70 lbs. Maximum size of 108" in length and distance around the thickest part combined.

Express Mail

USPS’s fastest service for time-sensitive letters, documents or merchandise. Automatically insured to $100 against loss or damage. Guaranteed next-day and 2nd day delivery nationwide, or your money back.

Parcel Post

Use for large envelopes, flats and packages when value is more important than speed of delivery. Maximum size of 130" in length and distance around thickest part combined. The timeliness of service to or from destinations outside the contiguous US may be affected by the limited availability of transportation.

Media Mail

USPS’s low-cost solution for books, sound recordings, recorded video, printed music and recorded computer readable media (such as CDs, DVDs). Cannot contain advertising except for incidental book announcements. The timeliness of service to or from destinations outside the contiguous US may be affected by the limited availability of transportation.

Bound Printed Matter

Use this low-cost solution for bound sheets of advertising, promotional or directory material such as catalogs and phonebooks. Sheets must be permanently-bound. Maximum weight: 15 lbs.

Insurance

Purchase insurance to protect from loss and damage when mailing or shipping valuables. With Stamps.com insurance, there is no post office drop-off required, no special forms to complete or attach, and claims are conveniently made through the Stamps.com software and processed typically in only 7 to 10 days.

e/Confirmation

Use Delivery Confirmation to track your mail piece with the Stamps.com software, and know exactly when it was delivered. For additional security, add Signature Confirmation which requires a recipient signature that is kept with the delivery record by the USPS. The record and signature is then available via fax or mail upon request.

Certified Mail

Certified Mail provides proof of mailing and delivery of mail. The mail carrier must obtain a signature from the recipient of your package or flat, and this record of delivery is filed at the recipient’s post office. To obtain proof of delivery personally, you can purchase Return Receipt service for an additional fee.

Registered Mail

Registered Mail is the most secure Special Service available. Registered articles are shipped under tight security from the point of mailing to the point of delivery. Insurance coverage of up to $25,000 is included. A Return Receipt is available for an additional fee.
